At the centre of Santa Giulia you‘ll find the Locanda degli Antichi Sospiri. The name comes from the locality that in ancient times was known as Polesinello dei Sospiri, perhaps an echo from the famous Venetian bridge, but more probably it refers to the daily fatigue of the inhabitants.
The Locanda is a small hotel-restaurant, of recent construction, run by Signora Fabrizia and her children who offer guests a homely atmosphere and attentive service.
The restaurant is on the ground floor in a spacious, air conditioned dining room for up to 70 guests where they can enjoy typical local dishes as well as original fish recipes such as sea bass marinaded in citrus juice, lobster a la Catalana, prawns, octopus wiith polenta as well as traditional mixed grilled fish from the Adriatic Sea the best of which is eel baked on the barbecue. Good selection of wines and home made desserts.
At the Locanda a lot of attention is paid to the presentation of the dishes, garnished with vegetables, sauces or fruit. You‘ll find many different dishes here but always with the flavour of tradition.
Among the extra facilities of the Locanda there‘s the opportunity for cycling along country roads or along the river bank leading to the Sacca degli Scardovari or to where the river meets the sea offering boat trips with local fishermen.
