ASSISI CITY

Assisi is a municipality in the province of Perugia, in Umbria. It is known as the city where Saint Francis, patron saint of Italy, was born, lived and died and also Saint Chiara. Assisi lies on the eastern side of Mount Subasio and is home to a University faculty, set in the Santa Maria degli Angeli district, a branch of the Faculty of Economics of the University of Perugia, with courses on Economy and Management of Tourist Facilities and Economy of Tourism. Since 2010 a course in International Economy of Tourism has been established in collaboration with the University for Foreigners of Perugia. In the same faculty there's also the CST, the Italian Center for Superior Studies in Tourism. In 1971 the Assisi Theological Institute was founded, aggregated with the Faculty of Theology at the Pontifical Lateran University, that represents the third university institution in Umbria together with the two Universities of Perugia. The Institute is housed in the Sacred Convent of Saint Francis.
