Benevento lies at 135 metres on the sea level and in the last few years has greatly expanded. The city has many historic monuments that show the importance of this city in all it’s historical phases. The major Roman monument is the Arch of Traiano and among the others is the theatre which was built around the II and III century. The church the Benedictine nuns monastery is also very beautiful. It dates back to the time of the Longobards or Lombards and is dedicated to Saint Sofia.
