Biella is known for its wool industry, which is still one of the most important economic activities in the area. Biella lies at the foot of the Pre-alps and in the last few years a considerable number of tourists have come here, thanks to the many places where nature reigns supreme and where you come across views rarely found elsewhere. From an historic point of view Biella offers visitors several beautiful buildings such as the pre-Romanesque style Battistero (Baptistery) dating back to the 10th century which contains remains of some precious 14th century paintings. Also the church of San Sebastiano with it’s elegant façade and renaissance decorations inside.
