Chieti lies 15 kms from the Adriatic coast at 330 mtrs asl and like l’Aquila is also considered to be the cradle of culture for Abruzzo. In the course of the years this town has expanded at the foot of the hill and here one finds Chieti Scalo which is the more modern part of the town and has become the commercial and industrial center. The places to visit are the archeological museum as well as the Civitella and it’s remains from the Roman era, the Cathedral and bell tower from XIV-XV centuries, the Church of Sant’Agata, la Porta Pescara, the Church of Santa Maria della Civitella and Sant’Antonio, the church of San Domenico and that of San Francesco della Scarpa.
