Enna is situated in a hilly inland area at 1098 meters and is the highest provincial capital in Italy. The most fascinating buildings to visit are the church of San Francesco from the 14th. century, the church of San Giuseppe with it’s impressive Renaissance bell tower and the church of S. Tommaso from the 15th century also the Castle of Lombardia from the Swabian era which is one of the most important medieval castles in Sicily, the 24 meter high Tower of Federico from the 13th century and the Baroque Cathedral built in 1307.
