FERMO CITY
The delightful town of Fermo, located in the south of the Marche Region, is famous as a center of cultural exchanges on the Adriatic and for it's hospitality as well as it's artistic heritage that has been well preserved in the Renaissance city plan that can be traced from the main square, Piazza del Popolo, through various itineraries showing churches, noble mansions, artistic courtyards and doorways. Among the most interesting places to visit is the Pinacoteca (art gallery) with it's rich collection of late Gothic paintings and the famous Adoration of the Shepherds by Rubens. The town is also very proud of it's Sala del Mappamondo under which lies a complex of Roman Cisterns from the Augustun period, a real must when you visit Fermo. The location of the town, set between the Sibillini Mountains and the Adriatic Sea makes it a popular holiday destination all year round: beach facilities offer super summer holidays while holiday farms guarantee relaxation if you wish to enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Sibillini Mountains.
