Genoa is situated at 19 metres above sea level, on the Golfo di Genova and at the foot of the Apennines. The city is divided into two, the old part is located around the harbour area which is characterised by its dense and narrow street network, while the modern part has grown up on the surrounding hillsides. It is a city rich in historical and artistic monuments of which not to be missed.
