MASSA CITY
Massa is a town in the province of Massa Carrara in Tuscany. The town has expanded around a small medieval nucleus near the fortress, surrounded by urban development from the 1500s, and stretches to the present Marina. Set at the foot of the Apuan Alps, Massa lies at the entrance to the Frigido Valley and is about five kilometers from the sea. A part of the Town, known as Marina di Massa extends towards the coast and comprises a stretch of sandy and rocky beaches. The whole of the Tyrrhenian Sea is crystal clear and full of colourful fish: swimming here and relaxing on the beach is a perfect way to forget your cares. A visit to the old town center is a must as here you can admire the Cathedral dedicated to Saint Peter and Saint Francis, the Palazzo Ducale that dominates Piazza Aranci and numerous other fascinating buildings. There are also many gastronomic events during the summer when you can enjoy the flavours of typical Tuscan cuisine.
