OLBIA CITY
Olbia is the Main Town, together with Tempio Pausania, of the province of Olbia-Tempio in Sardinia. Set on a plain and surrounded by hills, it's the economic center of the Gallura and the most important passenger port of the island. A dynamic and rapidly expanding town, popular as a holiday destination, not only for the sea and beaches but also the many interesting sites to visit. The main street is the Corso Umberto home to important period buildings, among which the Town Hall and the public library, the Simpliciana. The National Archaeological Museum housing remains of Roman and Medieval ships is really worth a visit. Along the streets of the town center there are numerous shops selling typical Sardinian craft articles and restaurants where you can enjoy typical, local cuisine. Thanks to the mild Mediterranean climate, walks along the seafront are pleasant even in winter.
