PRATO CITY

Prato is Tuscany‘s newest province. Very lively, mainly as a result of its textile works, this city at the gates of Florence is home to many buildings of undoubted historical value: most important of all is the Castello dell‘Imperatore otherwise known as the Fortezza di Santa Barbara built by Frederick II of Svevia and dating from the thirteenth century.Very special is without a doubt the Piazza del Comune, which is of course home to the Town Hall, and filled with noteworthy works of art. Also the Palazzo Pretorio, home to the Galleria Comunale, whose highlights are various works by Filippino Lippi and Giovanni della Robbia.
