Taormina is a municipality in the province of Messina, in Sicily. It is one of the most important international tourist centers of Sicily thanks to it's enchanting scenery, crystal clear sea and historic monuments. Set on a hilltop, 206 meters above the sea, suspended between the rocks and the sea on a terrace of Mount Tauro, in a natural setting of unique beauty for variety and contrast with a wonderfully mild climate. There are numerous events taking place mostly in summer in Taormina. The ancient Theatre of Taormina is an exceptional setting for concerts (classical and popular music), theatre, operas, great evening events transmitted by radio and TV (such as Nastri d'Argento, Festivalbar, la Kore.) Since 1983, the most significant events, are under the auspices of Taormina Arte, the cultural institute that organizes music, dance and theatre festivals, considered to be among the most important on the national scene.
