TRIESTE CITY

Trieste is set at 2 metres above sea level on the eastern slope of its gulf, between the coast and the Carsice heights; it is also the most northerly port of the Adriatic sea.It is a lovely city, rich in findings dating from Roman times of which the highlights are the "Arco di Riccardo", the "Basilica Forense" and a theatre. The city‘s other main sight is the Cathedral of San Giusto. Also worth seeing is the castle built between 1368 and 1630, the small church of San Silvestro among many others. Not to be missed is the famous "Castello di Miramare" located a mere 8 kilometres from the city.It is a very evocative castle that is a classic example of an elegant 19th century residence.
