UDINE CITY

Udine is set on the high plain of Friuli around a castle-topped hill. The town has a Venetian look to it. Its Piazza della Liberta houses its Town Hall, also known as the Palazzo della Loggia, with the Arcade of San Giovanni and the Clock Tower. Other sights include the 18th century church of San Francesco, the 13th century church of San Giacomo, the Palazzo Arcivescovile, the Oratorio della Punite and the Manin chapel. The splendid sixteenth-century castle is a majestic structure built in the Renaissance style.
