The Lagoon of Marano is located in the province of Udine and stretches from the Tagliamento delta to the mouth of Porto Buso that divides it from the Lagoon of Grado. Both lagoons lie in the most northern part of the Adriatic Sea. Two major centres overlook the lagoon, Lignano Sabbiadoro and Marano Lagunare and one with a smaller population but important for the local economy.
