Lake Albano is located in the area of the Albani Hills south of Rome. The volcanic slopes of Mount Cavo divide lake Albano from the other volocanic Lake Nemi. The two craters of Albano and Nemi are, however, the most recent volcanic structures in a long and ancient series. During the summer the north side of the lake is transformed to accomodate bathing establishments and facilities for canoeing enthusiasts.
