LAKE COMO

Lake Como is the third largest lake in Italy and has a characteristic shape like an upside down Y, the three branches being Colico to the north, Lecco to the south east and Como to the south west. The lake is surrounded by magnificent mountains, the highest is Mount Legnone (2609m) above Colico. 37 rivers feed the lake then it’s waters run into the river Adda at Lecco. After forming the small lakes of Garlate and Olginate it then flows towards the river Po. There is only one island in the lake known as Isola Comacina which lies in the Como branch.
