LAKE NEMI

Lake Nemi lies in a volcanic crater in the Colli Albani, a group of mountains to the south east of Rome. The remains of a temple dedicated to the goddess Diana can still be see a few hundred metres from the lake. This temple was restored by Emperor Caligola who also built 2 ships for religious ceremonies and these have become a source of legends here.
