The largest artificial lake in Lazio, Lake Salto was created by damming the river of the same name. Lake Salto and Lake Turano are separated by Mount Navegna through which a connecting canal flows. The scenery is quite varied and there are several interesting villages to visit such as Borgo San Pietro, Teglieto, Fiumata and Sant’Ippolito, all rebuilt after the valley was flooded and higher up the slopes of Mount Nuria, Petrella Salto and Fiamignano.
