AGRI VALLEY

The Agri Valley is a sub region of the Basilicata located between the Sirino and Volturino mountains, on the border with the Campania. It takes it‘s name from the river Agri that flows through the whole territory. It is one of the most important areas of the region, culturally and economically as in the first half of the 1900s a large oilfield was discovered. It was however only in the 80s that it began to be exploited and now the Vale of Agri provides 10% of the national requirements.
