ANZASCA VALLEY

The fascinating Anzasca Valley, dominated by Mount Rosa, is characterised by 2 autonomous cultures: in the lower part the inhabitants follow a typically Italian way of life while in the upper part the Walzer tradition has been maintained for centuries. In the 12th century this race of people migrated from the Swiss canton of Vallese and settled in this valley as well as in Val Formazza and Val Sesia in Piedmont, the valleys of Lys, d’Ayas and Valtournenche in the Aosta valley. Macugnaga is the main resort, famous for the magnificent panorama of the eastern side of Mount Rosa which has attracted climbers and excursionists for over two centuries.
