CECINA VALLEY

The Cecina Valley extends along the river Cecina, in the southern part of the province of Pisa and also for a short stretch in the central part of the province of Livorno, near the river mouth and the final part of the river. The area is mainly hilly, inland and flat in the proximity of the river mouth. The landscape is extremely interesting with it‘s steep "calanchi" (gullies) known as the Balze di Volterra, found near the town of Volterra.
