CHIAVENNA VALLEY

The Chiavenna Valley (Valchiavenna) is an alpine region where the Liro and Mera rivers flow through. Together with the Valtellina and the territories of Val di Lei and Livigno it makes up the province of Sondrio and is located in the Lombard Region. The name Valchiavenna comes from that of the main town Chiavenna, the seat of the Union of Mountain Communities of Valchiavenna, of which all the municipalities of the valley are members.
