The Dolomites indicates the mountainous region between Val d’Isarco and the Piave Valley and are subdivided into the eastern and western sections with the confines being Val Badia - Valle del Cordèvole. More precisely, Val Pusteria to the north and north east, Comèlico and the Piave river to the east and south east, Cordèvole river and Val Badia to the west. On 26th June 2009 the Executive Committee of the Convention on the material heritage of UNESCO, gathered in Seville, declared the Dolomites a World Heritage Site. Some of the most well known holiday destinations present in the Dolomite valleys are: Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Conca Ampezzana, Auronzo di Cadore-Misurina in Val d'Ansiei, Rocca Pietore-Marmolada in the Val Pettorina, Selva and Ortisei in Val Gardena, Dobbiaco and Sesto in Val Pusteria, Castelrotto at the foot of the Siusi Alps, Canazei and Moena the Val di Fassa, Falcade in Valle del Biois, San Martino di Castrozza in the Primiero, Arabba in the Valle di Livinallongo, Corvara, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia in Val Badia, Madonna di Campiglio in Val Rendena and Forni di Sopra in Friuli Venezia Giulia.
