The Maira Valley stretches from the main divide on the French-Italian border for 45 km towards the east and ends on a high plain near Dronero. The lower part of the valley covered in thick woods is in stark contrast with the higher part which is incised by deep valleys and surrounded by the high mountain chain of Brec de Chambeyron.
