MAJELLA MOUNTAINS

The Majella Mountains are located in the south of the Abruzzo region and are shared by the provinces of Pescara, Chieti and L’Aquila. They join the Abruzzo National Park in the south to the Gran Sasso in the north. Many streams and torrents flow through these magnificent mountains which stretch over 86.000 hectares and 30 of the 61 peaks are higher than 2000 metres. The morphology of this area is unique with canyons, hidden valleys cutting into the mountain sides, a wild and rugged landscape with breathtaking panoramas.
