MAREMMA - TUSCANY

The Maremma is a vast geographic area, comprising parts of Tuscany and Lazio, facing the Tyrrhenian Sea and with borders that are difficult to define. The Maremma is divided into three areas: The Maremma Livornese or Maremma Pisana, also known as the Upper or Northern Maremma, takes up a large part of the province of Livorno and some foothill areas of the province of Pisa. The Maremma Grossetana: the central area, in the province of Grosseto, covers the coastal area between the bay of Follonica and the mouth of the river Chiarone. The Maremma Laziale, the southern part, covers the western part of the province of Viterbo and the north western tip of the province of Rome.
