MOUNT TERMINILLO

Mount Terminillo is a mountainous massif, whose highest peak reaches an altitude of 2217,13m. It belongs to the Monti Reatini group of the Abruzzo Apennines, located 20km from Rieti and 100km from Rome. Up until 1927 the peak and the greater part of it belonged to the province of Aquila as it was located in the borough of Leonessa. It is the sixth highest peak in Lazio. The whole massif lies within the territory of various boroughs in the Reatino: Rieti, Leonessa, Micigliano, Posta, Cantalice, Poggio Bustone and Rivodutri. Although the Terminillo offers opportunities for alternative holiday development, skiing and winter sports are the sector that has the greatest attention on the part of local councils and tourist operators.
