NERINA VALLEY

 
The Valnerina is the valley of the river Nera that springs from the Sibillini Mountains in the Marche, flows through a mountainous area of south-eastern Umbria and reaches Terni from where it flows into the Tiber at Orte. The valley is mountainous, narrow and tortuous and is divided between the provinces of Terni, Perugia and Macerata. The main towns are Ferentillo, Visso and Scheggino while from the valley it is easy to reach Norcia, Cascia and Spoleto.
