NON VALLEY
The Vale of Non is one of the main valleys of Trentino, located in the north-western part of the province. From an administrative standpoint it belongs to the Comunity of the Vale of Non, one of the valley communities founded in the province in 2010. Only the northern part of the valley, the so-called Deutschnonsberg (the Vale of Non in German) belongs to the autonomous province of Bolzano. The economy of the valley depends mainly on agriculture (fruit growing): the valley has been made famous by the vast production of Golden Delicious apples, known commercially by the brand name Melinda (first DOP brand name granted for a product of the fruit sector). Proceeding from Cles to Tres, in fact, it traces the famous "via dei pomi" (apple trail), itinerary of the Trentino economy. Tourism and crafts play quite an important part in the local economy, and there are also some areas with small industry and cement works in the area of Cles, Tassullo and Mollaro.
