The Temples Valley is an archaeological site dating back to the Magna Grecia, located near Agrigento, in Sicily. In 1998 it was put on the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It is a very popular tourist destination and through this important economic resource not only for Agrigento but the whole of Siclily. The park of the Valley of Temples is considered to be the largest archaeological park in the world (about 1300 acres). The Valley of Temples is home to the so-called tomb of Terone, a monument un tuff-stone of notable dimensions, in the form of a pyramid, thought to have been erected in memory of the fallen of the Second Punic War. At the center of the Valley of Temples, in the area west of the church of San Nicola (now the National Museum), there are the remains of the ekklesiastérion and the so-called Oratorio di Falaride.
