VALE OF SANGRO
The Vale of Sangro is an area stretching along the river Sangro, in the southern part of the province of Chieti. It is home to a major industrial agglomeration as well as rich nature resources. At the point where the rivers Sangro and Aventino meet lies the lake Serranella Nature Reserve, run by the WWF and the municipalities, where many species of animals find refuge. The Sangritana regional railway runs through the Vale of Sangro from Marina di San Vito to Castel di Sangro. The main road running through the whole length of the valley is the SS 652 of Fondo Valle Sangro. There are many plans for the development of the area such as the campus of a technological institute for sharing and growth of technical skills gained by companies. Another project concerns the creation of a major exhibition centre in the Cerratina district that could become the main showcase of the center-south.
