Vesuvius is an active volcano (dormant at the moment) located in Campania in the Vesuvius National Park, founded in 1996. The history and the frequent eruptions of the volcano make it particularly interesting. Part of the Somma - Vesuvius Mountain System, it is 1281 meters high and lies slightly inland from the coast of the Bay of Naples, ten kilometers east of the city, regional capital of Campania.
