CASTELLI ROMANI REGIONAL PARK
The Castelli Romani Regional Park is a protected area of the Lazio Region that lies in the area of the Colli Albani, in the province of Rome. There are 15 municipalities that are part of it. This regional park, of great natural and artistic interest, covers the area of the ancient Lazio Volcano. Many of the municipalities of the Castelli Romani share protected areas of the park, among which Nemi, whose area is entirely within it's boundaries. The Tuscolo archaeological site is particularly interesting as are the numerous Tusculum Villas. Lake Albano, also known as Lake of Castel Gandolfo and lake Nemi are also part of the park. The Park can be visited at any time as it's a territory without barriers, covering an area of about 15,000 acres. There are no opening times or limitations, apart from those relating to private property or the archaeological areas managed by the Superintendence for the Archaeological Heritage of Lazio. The park organises visits, excursions with seasonal programs that allow the full enjoyment of the Castelli Romani area.
