The Regional Nature Park of the Giulie Pre-Alps is a mountain chain lying in an east-west direction with steep south facing slopes; among the peaks, to the east the Monte Canin massif with the only glacier in this region. The vegetation on the northern slopes is composed of beachwoods mixed with hornbeam and ash whereas the southern slopes are home to pine woods and pastures. The fauna comprises deer, grouse, pheasant, partridge, golden eagle and bears have also been sighted.
