The Otranto Coast Nature Park - Santa Maria di Leuca and the Tricase Woodland is a regional park of the Puglia, covering the area that includes the boroughs of Alessano, Andrano, Castrignano del Capo, Castro, Corsano, Diso, Gagliano del Capo, Ortelle, Otranto, Santa Cesarea Terme, Tiggiano and Tricase. The area surrounding the lighthouse of Punta Palascìa also lies within the park, and is the most eastern point of Italy. The fundamental characteristics of this coastline are the caves created by the interaction of the coastal springs combined with the erosion caused by the sea.
