The Sale Porcus Nature Reserve lies on the northern part of the Sinis peninsular between the town of San Vero Milis and the sea, just a short distance from the holiday resort of Putzu Idu. The Lipu Bird Sanctuary of Sale Porcus covers the entire area of the wetlands, a salt lake of 325 hectares. The Sale Porcus Lake is famous as it is home to one of the most important flocks of flamingos in Italy and the Mediterranean, an unmistakeable bird with it‘s long legs and beautiful pale pink plumage.
