SILA NATIONAL PARK

The Sila National Park is a protected nature area in Calabria. It was created in 2002 incorporating the historic Calabrian National Park that ceased to exist with the birth of the Sila Park. The climate in the altitudes between 1000 and 1600 meters is of the highland type while higher up it is alpine. The summers are pleasantly cool. According to recent studies carried out by the Research Fellow Stefano Montanari, director of the Nanodiagnostics Laboratory in Modena, together with Antonietta Gatti, in Sila and specifically in an area of the park, to be precise in the village of Tirivolo, in the borough of Zagarise, at the foot of Mount Gariglione, you can breathe the cleanest air in Europe.
