STELVIO NATIONAL PARK - LOMBARDY
The Stelvio National Park, founded in 1935, is one of the oldest nature parks in Italy. It was created with the aim of protecting flora, fauna and the beautiful scenery of the Ortles-Cevedale mountain group and promote the development of sustainable tourism in the alpine valleys of Lombardia, Trentino and Alto Adige. It covers the territory of 24 boroughs and 4 provinces and borders directly to the north with the Swiss National Park, to the south with the Adamello-Brenta National Park and the Adamello Regional Park: all these parks make up a vast protected area in the heart of the Alps of about 400,000 hectares. There are numerous visitor centres for park tours and information.
