VEIO REGIONAL PARK

 

The Veio Regional Park lies in the province of Rome and forms a triangle bordered by the via Flaminia to the east, the via Cassia to the west and the provincial Campagnese road to the north. The territory concerns the so-called Agro Veientano, dominated by the Etruscan city of Veio, it has interesting historic, natural and scenic elements. There are 9 boroughs touched by the park: Campagnano di Roma, Castelnuovo di Porto, Formello, Magliano Romano, Mazzano Romano, Morlupo, Riano, Roma and Sacrofano. In the central northern area of the park, with mesophilic and meso-thermophilic woodland you can see: turkey oak (Quercus cerris), maple (Acer campestre), hornbeam (Ostrya carpinifolia), hackberry (Celtis australis), flowering ash (Fraxinus ornus), chestnut (Castanea sativa), white hornbeam (Carpinus betulus), holm oak (Quercus ilex), oak (Quercus pubescens).
