Argentario lies on a steep rocky promontory right on the sea at the southern part of the Monti dell‘Uccellina, a protected national park. From here the coast stretches south to Mount Argentario, an island joined to the mainland by two long strips of land on one of which lies the ancient town of Orbetello. On the island, between olive groves and typical Mediterranean vegetation you’ll find the attractive little towns of Porto Santo Stefano and Porto Ercole.
