PALM RIVIERA - LIGURIA
The Palm Riviera is the stretch of the Ligurian coast which is part of the Riviera Ligure di Ponente, extending from the town of Varazze to Andora. It's characterized by wide sandy beaches between high cliffs and a hilly hinterland that extends to within a few hundred metres from the sea. For about 70km along the coast, the Palm Riviera is characterized by a great morphological variety; at Andora there's a long sandy beach sloping gently into the sea, at Laigueglia the sand is of a slight rose colour, while at Alassio it's golden and the sea is only about 30 to 40 centimetres deep till quite far out. In the sea off the Palm Riviera lie the islands of Bergeggi, by the town of the same name, and Gallinara by Albenga.
