The DOC Wines of the Daunia Trail comprises the boroughs of Apricena, Lucera, San Paolo di Civitate, San Severo and Torremaggiore. For centuries the most famous wine centre has been San Severo, from where the wine trail begins. The short itinerary lies north of Foggia and stretches to the mouth of the river Fortore, on the Adriatic, winding through fertile countryside with rows of vines. Villages perched on hillsides accompany the trail to Lucera. The products under the tutelage of this wine trail are San Severo DOC, Cacc‘e mmitte of Lucera DOC and Aleatico of Puglia DOC.
