EASTERN HILLS OF FRIULI TRAIL

The Eastern Hills of Friuli Trail comprises the boroughs of Cividale, Faedis, Nimis, Tarcento, Manzano, San Giovanni al Natisone and Corno di Rosazzo. The area lies in the hills of the province of Udine, near the border with Slovenia. Cividale lies at the centre of the wine trail which then spreads out towards Tarcento a Buttrio. Two itineraries start from the town: the first winds to the north-east in the direction of Faedis, Nimis and Tarcento while the second leads south-east and touches Manzano, San Giovanni al Natisone and Corno di Rosazzo. Rolling hills where terraces of alternating sand and marl stone are the ideal home for vines. In fact the natural backdrop of the Giulie Pre-Alps protect the vines from the northern winds, giving a rich harvest of red and white DOC wines. The wines under the tutelage of this wine trail are the Eastern Hills of Fiuli DOC.
