The Flavour Trail of Poro comprises the boroughs of Spilinga, Zaccanopoli, Zungri, Rombiolo, Filandari, Zambrone, Parghelia, Tropea, Drapia, Ricadi, Joppolo and Nicotera. It winds through the central plateau of Mount Poro where flat areas richly cultivated alternate with the rolling hills of the coast, that stretch from Briatico to Nicotera. This promontory overlooks one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline in Italy, with it‘s deep blue sea, white sandy beaches and facinating cliffs. Nicotera dominates the bay of Gioia and Tropea is an internationally popular holiday destination. The products under the tutelage of this denomination of origin are Pecorino of Monte Poro (cheese) the Red Onions of Tropea, Extra Virgin Olive Oil of the Tropea Hills, the red Peperoncino of Spilinga, the Filejo and ‘Nduia of Spilinga.
