FLAVOURS OF CASSIODOREI TRAIL

 
The Flavours of Cassiodorei Trail comprises the boroughs of San Floro, Girifalco and Staletti. The area covers the central part of the Bay of Squillace. Flavio Magno Aurelio Cassiodoro, to whom the trail is dedicated, was of Bizantine origin. His father was a official of Teodorico and on the death of the king, Flavio Magno Aurelio Cassiodoro became Home Secretary and probably a paticular wine helped to start his political career. Among the products under the tutelage of this denomination of origin are the Capers, the wild fennel of Calabria, the wild Asparagus of Calabria, the Oil and the wild Origano of Calabria.
