The Wine Trail of Etna comprises the boroughs of Acireale, Aci Castello, Catania and Taormina. The Wine Trail winds round the slopes of the mountain and runs along the coastline from Taormina to Catania, whose destiny is tied to the volcano. The countryside made fertile by the ancient eruptions attracted the city founders and with the black rock they built the Roman amphitheatre and later the Medieval Cathedral and the Baroque mansions. The product under this denomination is Etna DOC.
