The Wine Trial of Monteregio di Massa Marittima comprises the boroughs of Roccastrada, Massa Marittima, Scarlino, Follonica, Monterotondo Marittimo, Gavorrano and Castiglione della Pescaia and among the participating authorities are the Union of Mountain Communities and the Chamber of Commerce of Grosseto. The Wine Trail winds through the Colline Metallifere of the Upper Maremma Grossetana and is divided into three itinerary that pass through different landscapes. The centre of the first itinerary is Massa Marittima, a medieval town with castles, spas, a park and a lake. The second itinerary is on a plain at the foot of the hills dotted with medieval villages such as Montemassi. The third is in the area between the coast and the main trail and here you can admire the coastal fortress of Castiglione della Pescaia, nature reserve and the Etruscan Necropolis of Vetulonia. The product under the tutelage of this denomination is the Monteregio di Massa Marittima DOC.
