The Wine Trail of the Malvasia of the Lipari Islands comprises the boroughs of Patti, Milazzo and Lipari. The itinerary of this wine trail also unites island with the mainland. The stretch of coast is that of the bays of Patti and Milazzo, separated by the strip of land of Capo Milazzo that extends towards the arch created by the islands of Alicudi, Filicudi, Salina, Lipari and Vulcano thatb together with the more distant Panarea and Stromboli, form the archipelago with the name of the God of the Winds, the Eolie islands. The product under the tutelage of this denomination is the Malvasia delle Lipari DOC. Probably introduced by the Greeks, Malvasia wine is mentioned in latin texts and today it is still produced according to ancient procedures that provide for the drying of the grapes on special screens. It is cultivated on the Eolie islands, of volcanic origin with magnificent beaches, but in particular on the island of Salina.
