ABRUZZO

This is a region of the Italian peninsular famous for being the green region of Europe as it has the largest number of protected areas and parks. Due to it’s geographical characteristics it is unique in Italy, not only does it overlook the sea, but only 60 km from the beaches, the landscape changes completely to the highest peaks of the Appenines, the Gran Sasso of Italy and the Maiella. The 130 metres of coastline have extremely varying features. The coastal area of Teramo, from Martinsicuro to Silvi Marina has wide sandy beaches that attract numerous visitors who find top class hotels and holiday facilities. To the south the landscape changes: from Ortano to Vasto and San Salvo the coastline is pretty wild, high and steep with beaches surrounded by thick Mediterranean vegetation. The region is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Italy and also Europe, thanks to the variety of landscapes and the mostly unspoilt and wild environment to be found there.
